Gochara means transit — the ongoing motion of the grahas through the zodiac, read against the fixed positions in your birth chart. In classical Vedic astrology transits are judged primarily from the Moon sign, the Janma Rasi, so the same sky is read differently for every person depending on where their natal Moon sits. Jagannatha Hora computes the live sidereal position of every planet and lays it over your chart, using precise astronomical calculation rather than lookup tables.

How long each graha spends in a sign
Transit speed is a fixed astronomical fact — it does not depend on your chart. It sets how often each planet changes the house it occupies from your Moon, and how long any one transit lasts. These are the approximate figures for the sidereal zodiac; the inner planets vary because of retrograde motion.

What is gochar (gochara) in astrology?
Gochara is the transit of the planets — their real-time movement through the zodiac signs, read against the fixed positions in your birth chart to see which area each planet is currently passing over.
Is a transit read from the Moon sign or the Lagna?
Classical gochara is judged mainly from the Janma Rasi, the sign the Moon held at birth. Many astrologers also cross-check from the Lagna (ascendant); this tool counts each transit from the Moon by default.
How long does each planet's transit last?
It depends on the planet's speed: the Moon spends about 2.25 days in a sign, the Sun about a month, Jupiter about a year, and Saturn about 2.5 years. Rahu and Ketu take about 1.5 years per sign.
What is Sade Sati?
Sade Sati is the roughly 7.5-year span during which Saturn transits the 12th, 1st and 2nd signs from your natal Moon — three sign-transits of about 2.5 years each. The calculator marks when it begins and ends.
